New Vaudeville Band - Winchester Cathedral

As the evenings draw in for us in the northern hemisphere, it's sometimes hard to find activities to occupy ourselves until it's time for bed. However, now that I've catalogued my collection of toenail clippings and found the Higgs Boson particle (it was under the fridge), I've come to remember this dubious brood of offerings on Slothy's Pigeonshit.

I'm currently reuploading and refreshing links starting with the oldest posts, so if you fancy going through it, then start here before contacting your nearest head doctor. The Old Lady Playing Badly series awaits you.

For those who prefer new old stuff, the New Vaudeville Band should provide! The album starts with a promotional piece they did for Coca-Cola, which is an unusual method of payment. Some of the band still get royalties for that, but these days it amounts to a cola cube on a biennial basis.

This band is the source of the much-covered track Winchester Cathedral, the original version of which is present here (really?), along with a bonus demo version. Following the breakup of a relationship in the 1960s, it was common to hold the local place of worship responsible, which has led in part to falling church attendance in recent years.

Following this example, I did once begin stalking my local Methodist church but it's not the same if they don't run away.
