KPM 1241 - Keith Mansfield & T. Cox - Technology & Movement

After trawling the excellent thelibraryhunt (no, it didn't take all of six weeks!), I was amazed I had one which wasn't there, so here it is as a re-up.

Billed on the back cover as a companion to KPM 1240 'Action World' it has some great smooth hi-tec style tracks which are worth grabbing. This was ripped 3 years ago so no real collector's protocol was used, the track titles are untagged but for the filenames, and I decided to have the spoken track numbers at the end of the preceding track which seemed more listener friendly.

I can do a fresh rip at 320kbps and all the other stuff if there's any interest..

Eventually!

  2. Wow, nice record! Thanks for this.

If you do a fresh rip, 320 kbps wouldn't sound any better than 256. Go lossless and avoid pre-echo (evident in the character of the surface noise). People who need lossy can transcode it themselves.

Also, don't sweat the tags or lack thereof. It's the music that's important. People who gripe about it are probably retagging everything to conform to their own filing system, anyway.

  3. What you say about pre-echo sounds interesting, but I've always had an aversion to flac - I'm one of those people who converts afterwards!

  4. Huge thanks for the rare KPM! I must admit, I prefer the later 70s/early 80s electronic sounds of the library world so this is a huge treat as I am pretty sure I have never seen this posted before.

I must admit, I was a bit of a FLAC/WAV avoider in the past, but looking back, it was more an issue of hard-drive storage than anything else - and having terrabyted (?!) up, I have got to say, you can difference in terms of a fatter/warmer sound....

maybe you should try FLAC on this album..just as an experiment ;)
